Preparing for a set.

This is the moment my performance begins. I stand discreetly to the side, reading and studying the crowd, feeling the vibe from the previous DJ, and watching how the crowd is reacting. My DJ instinct kicks in, letting me know exactly how to start my set. I naturally sense the energy to begin with. Every single scenario is different, which is why I never preplan any set. I connect with the vibe on the dance floor and give them exactly what energy is needed at the right time. Often, the dance floor may need a sonic break from a previous DJ who played non-stop bangers/anthems, or they may not have read the crowd, had a preplanned set that didn’t work, or our main gripe, warm-up DJs playing far too hard too early. The list is endless.

The key is knowing your tracks and being organised so that you can reach for the right track at the exact right moment to regain control of the dance floor. Once you have the trust of the dance floor, you can start working your magic.
