Social media DJ influencers 😮‍💨😳

This is the look of dismay from an actual DJ watching influencers online giving career advice and tips.
I made the mistake of watching a few, and then the social media algorithms kicked in, bombarding me with more of this content. It’s shocking to see the poor advice being given, yet these influencers have thousands of views and followers.

My advice: be careful with these channels. A lot of the advice isn’t rooted in the real world. Here’s the clue: reverse-engineer the situation. Most of these influencers aren’t successful touring DJs or signed artists. They can’t offer real-world advice because they haven’t lived the life of a professional DJ. If they had, they'd likely be too busy touring to make full-time content.

Some of the advice is truly shocking, often counterintuitive, and could even hold you back from achieving your dream of becoming a professional DJ. So, be cautious when consuming this kind of content. First, research who’s giving the advice—are they genuinely successful? That should be your deciding factor before following them, or worse, paying them for services. Let’s be honest—that’s probably their real motive: to take your money.
